Zach and I biked an 11-mile round trip to try Los Primos.

So was the trek worth it? Unfortunately after taking our first bite of the Los Primos burrito, we realized we came all that way for something about as good as Taco Bell. Only a lot farther away.

At first it seemed it was the beans that gave the burrito its generic, processed taste. While we tried to overlook that, things only grew worse after our fangs reached the guacamole. Again, Taco Bell comes to mind (for those of you who stopped eating there years ago, try to recall the gooey, bright green concoction they try to pass as guacamole).

At this point we were getting a bit annoyed, so we moved on to the chicken tacos.

We hate to compare to yet another fast food chain, but this wasn’t much better than the chicken tenders at McDonald’s. The ones you serve toddlers because they don’t know they aren’t good yet.

So that was pretty much the worst of it. Surprisingly there were a few pluses:

They had great tortillas, tasty salsa and the service was good.

We also tried the four-taco plate and the pork was pretty good. Overall the tacos were pretty plain and a bit dry. They only had the, um, “guacamole” on top, plus a little cilantro. Definitely could have used a sauce of some sort.

Pricing was decent and portions were big. There was also a lot of seating inside.

We wouldn’t take a date here and as far as family goes – there’s no kids menu.  Their regular menu isn’t very big, but because of its close proximity to businesses, it might make a decent lunch-break place.

That is if you can get past the Taco Bell memories.
