Carlsbad Youth Track and Field Club Travels to Sweden this Summer

In the summer of 2010, athletes from Valley Middle School track team traveled to Sweden to compete in the DN Galan Youth track meet in Stockholm. This summer, we plan on heading back to Sweden with a larger team to compete in Gothenburg at the World Youth Games (WYG) taking place June 28-30, 2013. The WYG attracts as many as 4000 entries for their meet and we want to take athletes from Carlsbad that are in grades 7-12 to represent the Carlsbad Youth Track & Field Club.

I have met with parents of athletes from Valley & Aviara Oaks Middle Schools, as well as athletes from Carlsbad High who are interested in competing in WYG track and field meet this summer.  Ideally we would like to raise enough funds to cover the expenses for the Carlsbad Youth Track & Field Club athletes to travel to Sweden and participate in the WYG.  To that end, we have partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad to accept donations on behalf of our track club athletes and to provide a tax write-off for the companies and individuals who donate.  Our goal is to raise $15,000 for travel, accommodations, food, entertainment, and uniforms for the 10 day trip. Your donation is fully tax deductible, and you can be confident that your generosity will be put to excellent use in support of the youth athletes from Carlsbad.
