In just its third year of existence, the Lancer Link has been named a finalist in the prestigious National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Online Pacemaker competition. The Pacemaker is considered the pinnacle of awards for high school publications.
Winners will be announced on April 14, 2012. Out of 159 entries, 31 finalists were selected based on content, design, writing and editing, rich media and breaking news.
Calling the Pacemaker the “Oscar of scholastic journalism,” CHS Journalism Advisor Danielle Ryan states, “Being selected as a finalist in this national competition is an incredibly huge honor. My online staff has worked very hard to achieve this high measure of success, especially editor-in-chief Shelby Rowe. Shelby, a senior, has been accepted to one of the country’s top journalism programs: the University of Missouri at Columbia Journalism School.”
