San Marcos Fitness Roundup Celebrates Second Year

The 2nd San Marcos Fitness Roundup, a 5K run/walk, 11K trail run and post-race shindig was held Saturday, April 9, under cool conditions and sunny skies. Both races started at 8 a.m. near the California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) campus Mangrum Track & Soccer Field.

Organized by Carlsbad-based In Motion, Inc., the San Marcos Fitness Roundup featured the San Marcos Community 5K Run/Walk – a relatively flat, 3.1-mile course around the CSUSM campus and surrounding city streets, and the Double Peak Challenge 11K. The Challenge is an approximately seven-mile, mostly-trail run to Double Peak, the highest point in the 230-acre Double Peak Park. Both races finished on the Mangrum Track. Over 350 runners and walkers finished the 5K and 11K events.

Glenn Racz, 31, of Carlsbad won the men’s division of the 5K in 16 minutes, 42 seconds. Defending champion Jessica Brothers, 29, of San Marcos won the women’s 5K race in 19:05. In the grueling 11K competition, defending champion David Kloz, 36, of Oceanside was the first across the finish line, winning wire-to-wire in 42:38 bettering his 2010 time by 38 seconds (43:16). Linda Vigil, 42, of Carlsbad won the women’s division, finishing in 52:03.

“It’s a fun event in my backyard,” said David Kloz, Double Peak Challenge 11K champion and CSUSM graduate. “Who doesn’t want to run up and down that hill?”

An awards presentation and post-race shindig, complete with live entertainment provided by Cowboy Jack and the North County Cowboys, was held around the Mangrum Track. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the CSUSM athletic department.

'...MPH degree program to attend a 3-day workshop ... challenge the CNA licensure examination inRead More California.... ... Aristotle felt that by becoming licensed professionals in the U.S. shortly after their arrival to the shores of the U.S., they would have a greater opportunity to receive better clinical positions when they applied for the work-study internships that they were eligible to participate in....' the school told students that were enrolled in masters' degrees that certification as a cna was part of the road to obtaining a masters degree ?? stop right there... masters in public health is an administrative position that has nothing to do with being a cna....and i'm sure people didn't travel thousands of miles to do the grunt work in a hospital.... yea, getting a cna license is a great suggestion for an 18 year old that's going into the nursing field....but not for someone in the masters' program.... and fyi phony college.....in this country a person has to have a 4 year degree before they can apply for the masters' program....
