Have you ever considered embarking on a career in financial planning?
Then consider San Diego State University (SDSU), which has been named among the Top Ten “Stand Out Financial Planning Schools” by Financial Planning magazine. SDSU was also the first university in the nation to offer a personal financial planning specialization at a business school whose degree programs are fully accredited by the AACSB.
SDSU offers three CFP Board-registered financial planning programs that qualify graduates to sit for the CFP Board's comprehensive exam. The six-course Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate is an ideal program for personnel interested in a career as a financial planning professional who meet one of these criteria: Financial services firm employees with client contact experience; Attorneys, CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and CFAs; Accountants and financial professionals; or Candidates with advanced degrees in business.
“The program provided me with an opportunity to get an amazing education and designation, while I still could produce at my current employment,” said Adam Shaw, SDSU Financial Planning program alumnus.
Added alum Jack Dugan: “I thought the class provided great practical knowledge. Being involved in an environment with other executives in the field made the class that much more interactive. Plus, the quality of professors was fantastic.”
The CFP Board-registered Executive Financial Planning certificate program is a step in achieving the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Upon successful completion of this 18-unit program, participants will be awarded an Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate and will be eligible to sit for the CFP board exam. This program is designed to prepare professionals with at least three years of financial services, law, or accounting industry experience for the next step in their careers.
SDSU’s College of Business Administration conveniently offers the Executive Financial Planner Advanced Certificate program through SDSU’s College of Extended Studies. Students pursuing further graduate studies may apply units from this certificate toward the Master of Science degree in Financial and Tax planning.
