Fire Crews Work to Extinguish Small Blaze in Vista

Firefighters put out a small vegetation fire in Vista on Sunday afternoon.

A roughly one acre brush fire was ignited Sunday afternoon in the outskirts of Vista on La Rueda Drive bordering San Marcos and Cal Fire’s fire protection districts.

The fire was reported shortly after 1:15 pm and took firefighters approximately three hours to extinguish, according to emergency radio traffic.

The fire was in a section of the property where access was difficult. First responders resorted to forced entry through cutting fences and locks. In addition to fences and locks, the terrain made it difficult for firefighters and their equipment to gain access to the blaze.

Vista, Cal Fire and San Marcos fire departments had crews on the ground assisting in the containment of the fire and the mop up afterwords, to ensure a flair up would not cause another fire.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
