A New Kind of Play Date

Play dates aren't just for kids - come out to the city's Community Play Date this Saturday.

Ever taken the kids (yours or someone else's) to a play date, only to stand on the sidelines and watch?  While we know free play is vital for kids' healthy development, it's just as important for adults to find time to play.  Researchers at the National Institute for Play have found play is great for relieving stress, thereby boosting the immume system and keeping you healthier.  Play also helps you become a better problem -solver, by tapping into your creativity and sense of discovery.

We're out to show that "play dates" aren't just for kids.  Join City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation for a “Community Play Date,” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 at Stagecoach Community Center, 3420 Camino de los Coches. At this free event, you can sample mini-classes and activities for adults, kids and families being offered this summer by the city.  Activities include Lego build stations, family obstacle course, dodgeball games, tennis challenge, and hands-on stations for sampling self-defense, dance, fitness, and creative arts classes.

So come on down to your local community center and play with us!
