Aviara Parkway Speed Limit Controversy

The city of Carlsbad is looking to raise the 40 mph speed limit to 45, which has some neighbors protesting.

Did you know that, right now, if a police officer issued a speeding ticket to someone driving above the posted limit of 40 miles per hour on Aviara Parkway, the ticket would be thrown out in the court of law?

John Kim, the manager of the traffic division for the city of Carlsbad says in order for a speed limit to be enforceable on Aviara Parkway, they need to raise it to 45 mph. By being able to enforce tickets, he says it will become a safer street.

Meanwhile some residents, such as Diana Lincoln, are protesting the proposed speed increase.
