Carlsbad Beach Fest Celebrates World Oceans Day

The 4th Annual Carlsbad Beach Fest brought out the crowds for a day to celebrate the beach and the ocean.

The on June 4 was a day of fun in the sun for a few thousand locals and their friends. The shoreline, for about a mile from to Frazee beach, was filled with people.

The theme for the day was "Recreation Paradise Through Good Beach Stewardship."

Part of the celebration was to create awareness that the beach and the ocean are valuable resources and need to be taken care of by everyone. A symbolic gesture of hundreds of people linking hands in front of the ocean was a way to remind beachgoers that everyone should have a "hand" in taking care of the beach.
