Carlsbad Police and CHP Offer Free Safety Seat Inspection

Keep your child safe in the car with a free safety seat inspection.

In conjunction with a new law, Carlsbad Police is hosting a on Thursday.

and California Highway Patrol are hosting a workshop for parents to come and learn about child seat safety. The event will educate parents on how to properly install a child safety seat—something that’s becoming more relevant since Gov. Jerry Brown passed a law on Oct. 4 that will required children riding in any vehicle to be placed in the back seat in a child  restraint until their 8th birthday.

Parents can bring their child car seat to be inspected by a professional. They should also bring the child who uses the seat and the manual for the safety seat so the professionals can accurately install and inspect the seat. Inspections are expected to last about 30 minutes.
