Culinary Journeys with Carlsbad City Library

Cooking demonstration scheduled for April 23

On April 23, take a Culinary Journey to France by joining Carlsbad City Library and Dining Details for a cooking demonstration of Julia Child recipes, along with cooking tips and tales.  Best of all, sample the dishes and enjoy desserts after the event.

The event is part of Carlsbad Reads Together, a community reading event featuring “My Life in France” by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme. A Culinary Journey to France begins at 4 p.m. and will be held at the library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, located at 1775 Dove Lane. Seating is limited and first come, first served.

Chef Julie Frans, a Julia Child fan and owner of Dining Details personal chef service, has been working as a personal and private chef since 2001, first traveling the world cooking aboard private and charter yachts. She returned to her hometown of San Diego in 2005 to develop Dining Details.  You can watch Julie in action in this video clip.

Several other Carlsbad Reads Together events will close out April: a screening of “Mostly Martha” on April 20, a book discussion of “My Life in France” on April 25, and screenings of “Like Water for Chocolate” on April 26 and “Ratatouille” on April 27. Looking for a no-calorie treat? Check out one of the food favorites books on the library’s website.

Bon appétit!
