Wellness Festival, Art, and Classical Music Heats Up the Weekend

You made it to the weekend, now what? Patch has you covered for weekend events in North County.

Are you ready to put the sweaters and heavy coats away? It’s been a chilly week for San Diego and its time to heat things up.

The weekend forecast will be warm, sunny, and filled with a variety of activities.

Dash over to Encinitas and kick off Wellness Week on Saturday or check out the grand opening of a golf course in Oceanside.

MIDSUMMER/JERSEY THEATRE SHOW

  • What's Up: Catch the modern day version of Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream with a Jersey twist. Midsummer/Jersey will be produced by Carlsbad High School Theatre department.
  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center, 3557 Monroe St, Carlsbad.

RENOWN MEZZO-SOPRANO LAURIE RUBIN SINGS AND SPEAKS

  • What's Up: Music By The Sea Series will feature classical singer, Laurie Rubin. Rubin has been blind since birth but that hasn't stopped her from performing on stages in London and the White House. 
  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Dr, Encinitas.
  • Tickets: $12, can be purchased in person at City Hall, 505 S. Vulcan Avenue, Encinitas, or by calling 760-633-2740.

WELLNESS FESTIVAL 

  • What's Up: The Wellness Festival will jump start Wellness Week focusing on health and wellness. Last year the festival had demos, health screenings, acupunture, Reiki sessions and more.
  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Dr, Encinitas.
  • Price: Free. 

ELY CALLAWAY GOLF AND LEARNING CENTER GRAND OPENING

  • What's Up: Check out the newest golf course in Oceanside and learn more about Pro Kids, The First Tee of San Diego. The grand opening will have a scavenger hunts, tours, speeches, and more!
  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Where: Ely Callaway Golf and Learning Center, 821 Douglas Dr, Oceanside.
  • Price: Free.

CANNON ART GALLERY PRESENTS JURIED BIENNIAL EXHIBITION

  • What's Up: Juried Biennial Exhibition will showcase more than 72 emerging or seasoned San Diego based artists.
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Dove Library, 1775 Dove Ln, Carlsbad, 
  • Price: Free.
