Honor our Vets at Maffucci Field in Carlsbad Nov. 11

Take an hour Friday to say thanks to all of our vets.

On Veterans Day businesses close down and life stops for a moment while we remember those who have given and dedicated their lives to the service and providing freedom for our country and us.

Carlsbad is having its own this Veterans day, thanks to the Carlsbad Rotary Club and the Army and Navy Academy Corps of Cadets. A special ceremony for the public to commemorate Veterans Day will be held on Friday morning at the Army and Navy Academy Maffucci Field.

The special event will feature a parade with more than 300 cadets in full dress uniform, a wreath presentation by Veterans of the Korean Conflict, Marine Corps Installations West and guest speaker Col. M.G. Naylor, USMC, Deputy Commander.

Taps will be played as we remember veterans who are no longer with us and a special flyover of vintage combat aircraft will take place. Carlsbad Rotary is sponsoring a hot dog and hamburger fundraiser during the event. Complimentary coffee and cake will also be available after the ceremony.

Want to honor our veterans of war? Visit the Maffucci Field, located at 2605 Carlsbad Blvd., at 11 a.m. The event is free and will be about an hour long. Bring your cameras to this honorable event.
