Hugh Hefner-Crystal Harris Breakup Is a Good Thing

At 85, Hefner was too old for the 25-year-old Harris.

As tweeted and publicized, Hugh Hefner, 85 years old, and Crystal Harris, 25 years old, were set to wed this Saturday, but . Hefner tweeted: “Crystal has had a change of heart."

It would have been the third marriage for Hefner, who has four kids (ages 58, 55, 10 and 9) with his first two wives. He and Harris (Miss December 2009) began dating in January 2009 and  Hefner proposed with a 3 1/2 carat ring worth an estimated $90,000. So much for keeping up with the Kardashians. Kim Kardashian’s engagement ring from NBA star Kris Humphries is a grand total of 20.5 carats and worth $2 million.

As sad as the breakup may sound, I believe it’s for the best. Come on, Hefner, an 85-year-old man with a 25-year-old woman?! If I were Harris’ mother, I’d have to butt in and support the breakup. All I can consider is that it has to be for the money, recognition and attention. Who on earth at 25 years old would marry an 85 year old man, no matter what the circumstance? That’s a 60-year age difference!

Yes, there is love at first sight, the flame is burning and everything is perfect in the first stages of any relationship. I have heard from others, as well as read statements, that age is nothing but a number. However, as the time ticks away, and with such a big age gap of 60 years, so does compatibility consisting of interests, tastes, friends, outlook on life, and energy.

Obviously age gaps are common in many relationships, but when it comes to a 60-year age difference, that’s where I would consider it a little excessive. How about you?

She'll probably keep the ring. These girls aren't stupid. They know a sugar daddy (or sugar grandpa?) when they see one. Money, gifts, fame, implants, expensive trips, celebrity parties, promotion, etc. all for free! How can a material girl say no to all that?
