List of Carlsbad Road Closures for Triathlon this Sunday
The 33nd annual Carlsbad Triathlon, one of the longest running triathlons in the world, will take place on Sunday, July 13, along the scenic Carlsbad coastline.
Carlsbad Boulevard from Pine Avenue to La Costa Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. on race day.
Other road closures during this time include:
- Tamarack Ave. between Carlsbad Blvd. and Garfield St.
- Palomar Airport Rd. between Carlsbad Blvd. and Avenida Encinas
- Poinsettia Ln. between Carlsbad Blvd. and Avenida Encinas
- Avenida Encinas between Carlsbad Blvd. and Ponto Drive
In addition, for the open water swim, lifeguards will be on hand and "swimming buddies" from the TriClub of San Diego are available to encourage racers as they compete.
Rachael Shay, special events supervisor, said the Carlsbad Triathlon is a fitting experience to have in the City of Carlsbad.

Triathlon attracts a variety of athletes, from beginners to seasoned professionals.
