Local Hairdressers Raise Money for Co-Worker with Rare Autoimmune Disease

Headlines THE Salon in Encinitas is hosting a 5K to raise money for Tess Kobusch's treament of Scleroderma, which only affects less than .5 Percent of the U.S.

On April 14, Headlines THE Salon is hosting the Tessy 5K to raise money for a hairstylist who was recently diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease, Scleroderma. The race will take place at Headlines THE Salon, located at 121 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Tess Kobusch, Headlines’ top stylist for bridal events, was forced to end her nine-year run at the salon and give up her passion for hairdressing after finding out she was 1 of the 300,000 Americans suffering from Scleroderma. Tess, age 30, was diagnosed with Scleroderma last June and has lost much of her ability to move her hands due to an over production of collegen in her body. Doctors are not sure what causes Scleroderma and as of now, there is no cure but treatments are available.

Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease that involves changes in the skin, blood vessels, muscles and internal organs. All classifications of the rare autoimmune disease can be disabling, which is why Headlines is reaching out to its local community to ask for their support.
