More Than 2,000 Lose Power In Temecula

The outage began at 8:05 p.m. Thursday.

UPDATE: As of 1:30 a.m. Friday, SCE reported power had been restored to all Temecula customers.

UPDATE: As of 11:30 p.m. Thursday, power had been restored to some but there were still 1,617 customers in the dark, SCE reported.

The outage area was concentrated in and near the Harveston community, between Margarita Road, Ynez Road and Date Street, according to Caroline Aoyagi, a spokesperson for SCE.

Aoyagi told Patch there was not yet a time frame for when power would fully be restored.

"The troublemen are out there right now," Aoyagi said. "They still haven’t figured out a cause. They are looking into it, trying all the switches."

The outage began at 8:05 p.m., she confirmed, which meant many customers had been without electricity for several hours.

Southern California Edison said 2,233 people were without power Thursday in Temecula and at press time it will be a few more hours before the lights are back on.

According to the utility, the outage began at 8:05 p.m. Thursday. Customers affected are in greater Temecula.

At press time SCE is reporting it’s unknown what caused the outage, but the agency expects to have the problem fixed around midnight.

“We are testing the lines to help limit the number of customers affected,” the utility reports.
