Did you know that disposing of prescription drugs properly is good for the planet? If you've got drugs you no longer use or want in your home, here's a chance to clean out your medicine cabinet and, as an added bonus, help the environment.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. There are 40 drop-off locations in San Diego County, including campuses, medical offices, military bases, police departments and Sheriff's stations.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs have been determined to present substantial risks to the community by either falling into the wrong hands, or by damaging the environment through improper disposal.
Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency and local law enforcement, the program provides residents with a convenient and responsible way to safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications—no questions asked.
