Rain, Cooler Weather on the Way

Carlsbad will see its first blast of wet autumn weather this week, with highs dipping to the low 60s.

Cooler temperatures and showers are in store for San Diego County later this week, forecasters said today.

A low pressure system off the California coast is expected to move slowly toward the east and southeast this week, bringing showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms to Southern California late Wednesday night through early Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

In Carlsbad, the forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of rain Wednesday night, and a 50 percent chance Thursday. The second half of the week, highs will be between 61 and 65 degrees—and lows will be about 58 degrees.

The agency said general rainfall amounts across the region will range from one-tenth to a quarter-inch near the coast to around half an inch in the mountains, but thunderstorms could produce heavy rainfall and small hail in some areas. The snow level will likely drop to 6,500 to 7,000 feet Thursday evening, according to the NWS.

Daytime highs are expected to be around 10 degrees below average at lower elevations and 15 to 20 degrees below average in the mountains at higher elevations.

"This is a sharp contrast to early last week when high temperatures were 10 to 15 degrees above average and locally 20 degrees above average," according to an NWS advisory.

I'd say the recent events against which they were protesting are far more consequential than aRead More freeway traffic back-up. Just a guess.

How did they cause a backup, exactly? I'm asking because I saw them, and am wondering how theyRead More backed it up. If it's because people were slowing to read the signs, you can't really get mad at them for that.

I stopped using Internet Explorer years ago. Firefox is safer and the possibility of getting aRead More virus is much less. I have no issues with Firefox.

And if you use an IPAD early in the day as I do, the problem is that there is so much on each pageRead More that it is hard to scroll with your finger(s) because there is just so much clutter that you keep losing your story to an annoying ad.
