Snores and S’mores Coming Aug. 11-12, Today is Last Day to Register

The event allows families to camp in tents overnight at Aviara Community Park.

This year's City of Carlsbad Snores and S'mores event is themed after the much loved movie, "Despicable Me."

Kids will enjoy crafts, games and an evening of s'mores, popcorn and a movie under the stars at Aviara Community Park Saturday Aug. 11 to Sunday Aug. 12.

On Sunday, families will enjoy a continental breakfast and morning hike on one of the city’s nature trails.

Registration by Aug. 10 is required.

Cost is $20 per person; kids 3 and under are free.

Registered campers can start showing up Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for check-in and tent set up on the baseball field. Family games and activities including BINGO and facepainting will take place from 5-8 p.m.

Dinner of pizza, pasta, salad and breadsticks will be served from 6-7 p.m.

S'mores, popcorn and an outdoor movie begin at 8:15 p.m.

Then it's lights out at 10:30 p.m.

Breakfast the next morning goes from 6:30-8 a.m. The morning hike is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and then the event ends at 9 a.m.

The park will be closed to the public after 4 p.m., only wristbanded campers will be allowed to stay.

Families need to provide tents, sleeping bags, and pillows.  There are no electrical outlets for blowing up air mattresses. Also, bring chairs or blankets for the movie.  You can set them up as soon as you get there.

Families can bring extra snacks and bottled water for the night, but lemonade and water will be available all night.
