Winning Teen Bands Get Ready to Rock the Library

The library's free concert series will kick off May 12.

Carlsbad City Library’s Rock the Library concert series kicks off with teen band Breakdown on May 12 and continues with  on May 26 and on June 2. All concerts take place at 7 p.m. in Carlsbad City Library’s .  Admission is free.

The Rock the Library concert series features the top three winning bands from the City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department’s " held in January 2011.

May 12: Breakdown’s influences come from a wide-range of classic and modern rock bands such as Black Sabbath, Bryan Adams, Bowling for Soup and Queens of the Stone Age.  Breakdown placed third in this year’s competition. Breakdown promises the May 12 concert will provide “Your daily serving of rock and roll.”

May 26: Finding Autumn, the winner of the 2011 Carlsbad Battle of the Bands, plays a tantalizing blend of rock and power pop. They were founded in Nov. 2010 and are based in Carlsbad.

June 2: Emergency Shut Off received second place in the competition. They enjoy playing music by the many bands that have inspired them such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Arcade Fire, Rise Against, Rage Against the Machine, Fintan Roche and All Time Low. Emergency Shut Off promises the June 2 concert will be “Better than bacon!”
