Carlsbad Playreaders Present the Romantic Comedy 'The Clean House'

Enjoy an evening out watching a talented cast and award-winning play.

Join Carlsbad Playreaders on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. for an acclaimed play of uncommon romance and comedy.  “The Clean House,” by Sarah Ruhl, was praised by The New York Times as “romantic, deeply so, but in the more arcane sense of the word: visionary, tinged with fantasy, extravagant in feeling, maybe a little nuts.”

In “The Clean House,” Matilde (played by Anyelid Meneses) is a maid who hates cleaning and dreams about creating the perfect joke, while a doctor who treats cancer leaves his heart inside one of his patients.

"We are excited to be presenting new, cutting edge works to our audiences,” commented Carlsbad Playreaders’ Artistic Director Eric Bishop during a recent rehearsal.  “‘The Clean House’ is a witty, beautifully crafted comedy by the brilliant playwright Sarah Ruhl."
