Celebrate the Holidays with Write Out Loud

"Giving Season," an annual performance of holiday stories, will delight audiences of all ages.

“Let us read you a story” is the tagline of Write Out Loud, the arts group committed to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading short stories aloud for live audiences. Giving Season, Write Out Loud’s annual performance of holiday stories, will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in .

This year the program will feature stories and poems by a variety of well-known authors. The lineup includes Remembrance is Sufficient by E.B. White, A Parakeet Named Dreidel by Isaac Bashevis Singer, Chaparral Christmas by O. Henry, My Christmas Miracle by Taylor Caldwell, Christmas Day in the Morning by Pearl S. Buck and Christmas Trees by Robert Frost.

Each piece will be read aloud by a professional actor who brings the story “off the page” and into life. Actors will include Write Out Loud founders Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter, as well as Kelly Iverson, Nick Kennedy and David Meyers.

Giving Season provides us the opportunity to celebrate the spirit of giving with the community. The stories, written by some of our favorite authors, are specially selected to appeal to all ages,” noted Artistic Director, Veronica Murphy.

Tickets are $8 for Carlsbad City Library cardholders, $15 for the general public and $13 for senior, student and active military. Children’s tickets (under 18) are just $5.
