Elementary and middle school aged girls that love dance or aspire to try out for school dance or cheer squads in the future can brush up on their dance skills at Carlsbad High School.
From September 25 through December 4, Carlsbad High School’s Lancer Dancer varsity dance team will be teaching after-school dance classes on the CHS campus.
Classes are tailored for beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers — ages 5 – 14 for a suggested donation of $125 per child (includes a free tee shirt and photo). Participating dancers will learn new dance routines and have the opportunity to perform on stage at the Lancer Dancer Showcase, as well as a holiday Tree Lighting Event in downtown Carlsbad.
The donations will help fund the Lancer Dancer’s annual trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National Championships.
Nationally Recognized for Excellence in Dance
The Lancer Dancer varsity dance team is comprised of an elite group of dancers selected each year through a rigorous try-out and screening process. In nine of the last 13 years, the Lancer Dancers have won the coveted white jacket given to the UDA National Champions. In recent years, the UDA National Championships have been covered by ESPN, reaching a viewing audience of over 90 million.
