The Wiz Auditions

Carlsbad Community Theatre is excited to announce auditions for our Summer 2011 Show – The Wiz!

Auditions are Wednesday May 18th From 5pm – 9pm at Valley Middle School  1645 Magnolia Ave. Room 101 in Carlsbad

Walkups welcome, appointments preferred.

Bring Sheet music in correct key for a one minute or less song (no tape recorders or a capella)

Bring 3 non-returnable headshots and resumes

Be prepared to stay for dance at the audition

Callbacks – Friday May 20th starting at 5pm

This show has lots of parts for singers, dancers and actors ages 8 – Adult.  The Wiz is our adult/youth show. Actors under 17 must have taken a Carlsbad Community Theatre workshop or performed in a Carlsbad Community Theatre show to be eligible to audition.  We are offering a workshop on May 11th and details will be announced shortly on our web site for that workshop.

Production dates Aug. 5th – 7th at the Cultural Arts Center in Carlsbad

Rehearsals start June 13th.  Most are evenings and some Saturdays

No Fee to audition

$200 production fee for actors 16 and under, if cast.

No production fee for those 17 and up. 

The Wiz is based on “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ by L. Frank Baum, and is one of Broadway’s’ most popular contemporary musicals.  This brand new version, set in the present, is a multi-cultural journey that follows this well-known and beloved story of courage, brains, heart and home.

The Wiz won 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score.
