I Don't Think You're Ready for This Jelly - New Exhibit Opens in Carlsbad

A jellyfish exhibit will open tomorrow at Legoland California Resort's Sea Life Aquarium.

An exhibition featuring more than 100 jellyfish will open tomorrow at Legoland California Resort's Sea Life Aquarium.

"Jellyfish Discovery" will include moon jellyfish, blubber jellyfish and spotted jellyfish from around the world in six display tanks containing 1,500 gallons of water.

Park officials say the display includes interactive elements on the life cycle of the jellyfish and how they move.

The jellyfish is classified as a free-swimming marine mammal even though it has no nerves, no blood, no heart and no brain, according to the aquarium. The jellyfish has sense organs to perceive smell, light and other animals.

Legoland California officials say jellyfish have been around for more than 650 million years, outdating dinosaurs and sharks. Different species of jellyfish can be found in all of the worlds' oceans.
