Spend the Weekend Snagging Local Deals and Enjoying the Arts

Your Patch guide to weekend happiness.

After last weekend’s busy schedule of superheroes, science fiction and sandcastles, this final weekend in July is a bit more lax. That’s not to say there isn’t stuff to do—we’ve got plenty of events in town and beyond that will satisfy the down-to-earth and the go-getters.

From July 29-31, Carlsbad has a lot of local community events, like a ribbon cutting ceremony at a new salon, some jazz in the park, and a babysitting service for a night away from the kids. You can also catch some free workout classes or run for a cause.

If you’re ready to get out of the city, go head to La Jolla for a film festival that’s for the fashionable only. The Del Mar Fairgrounds boasts Ziggy Marley this weekend, so you can get your reggae on after the race; or go downtown for some all-day doggie fun. Enjoy these last days of July!
