A little Phillip Phillips primer

An almost perfect day in C-bad follows a great performance by Idol champ PP...

The day after the 4th of July we will dive into the American Idol portion of this blog. But first this word for the good folks who make up the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.

Seriously, does it get much better than this (oh, a little sunshine wouldn't hurt): day after the 4th, walk along the beach front from Carlsbad Village Drive past the power plant to Cannon; the street/sidewalk cleaner is already in action and if you hadn't seen it with your own eyes you'd never even know there were scores of folks along that same route the day before because just about all the trash/litter is gone; scores of pelicans are headed north and soaring overhead; a mother and baby dolphin are jumping out of the Pacfic a couple hundred yds off-shore; the breakfast burrito (really, it's only 3 bucks) is yummy as is the hot latte. CofC folks, is there such a thing as a bad day here?

Now back to Idol. If you happened to be around a TV at 9 Wednesday night and watched the PBS Special "A Capital 4th" then you stumbled across American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. With an incredible band behind him, Phillips sang his own song "Home" and he did a terrific job with it.

Phillips, who will be 22 on Sept. 20, won the crown over Chula Vista's Jessica Sanchez on May 23rd.  He's from Leesburg, Ga. and some folks compare him and his style to Dave Matthews.

Phillips, not Matthews, suffered from severe kidney stones and shortly after the conclusion of AI he underwent a successful operation to repair the damage this were causing.

For obvious reasons, this is Sanchez Country. But don' begrudge Mr. Phillips his victory or his musical future.  It will be interesting to see just how far both he and Jessica go forward in the entertainment world.

You can watch Phillips sing again on July 10 at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game from Kansas City on July 10th.

Aristotle felt that by becoming licensed professionals in the U.S. shortly after their arrival to the shores of the U.S., they would have a greater opportunity to receive better clinical positions when they applied for the work-study internships that they were eligible to participate in....' the school told students that were enrolled in masters' degrees that certification as a cna was part of the road to obtaining a masters degree ?? stop right there... masters in public health is an administrative position that has nothing to do with being a cna....and i'm sure people didn't travel thousands of miles to do the grunt work in a hospital.... yea, getting a cna license is a great suggestion for an 18 year old that's going into the nursing field....but not for someone in the masters' program.... and fyi phony college.....in this country a person has to have a 4 year degree before they can apply for the masters' program....
