Super Bowl prediction you can bank on

A Super Bowl prediction you can count on....

There are moments, duh, when Carlsbad is connected to events beyond the city borders. Sunday will be one of those moments. If Super Bowl Sunday takes a village then we are part of the village so rejoice, pass the chip n dip and enjoy the commercials and Beyonce even if the game is a dud.

Not that having covered five Super Bowls makes me any sort of wizard on predicting the outcome ...but I am going to give you the winner and the final score.

Upfront I will tell you I enter this year's contest with mixed emotions...

- I have a second cousin who just happens to be the Strength & Conditioning coach of the Ravens...so, I would like to see him get a "ring."

- Until this past June I lived in the Bay Area for 19 years, so there is a sorta connection to the 49ers...

- I am not a huge fan of Niners' head coach Jim Harbaugh cause I think he treats media types, well, shabbily for no good reason.

- But I really like 49ers' second-string QB Alex Smith cause I think he has handled himself with so much grace and dignity after being demoted earlier in the season. By now you probably know that story re. the Helix High product ... I would enjoy seeing the starter get hurt, not terribly, during the game, Alex come in and win it and then tell Harbaugh to shove the ball (alas, it won't happen and Alex wouldn't do it anyway.

So, all that said, here goes. In a nutshell, the Niners are too good, too experienced, too fast, too big...enuf said?

Final: 49ers 28, Ravens 10
