David Diaz, 27, is held after calling Carlsbad police to report a shooting in his home.

A 27-year-old Carlsbad man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of homicide after another man was found shot to death in his home, police said.

David Diaz called police around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to report a shooting at his home in the 3500 block of Sierra Morena Drive, officials said.

Arriving officers found a man in his 20s inside the home with substantial injuries, Carlsbad police Lt. Bruce May said. The identity of the victim, who died at the scene, was withheld pending family notification. May said he didn't know the victim's relation to Diaz.
