Nékter Moves into Carlsbad

You may think stopping at a smoothie shack is healthier than grabbing ice-cream or pizza, but it could be worse. A couple from Costa Mesa, Steve and Alexis Schulze,  decided to look into these restaurants and were shocked when they discovered the large quantities of sugar and preservatives are added to the majority of these "healthy" drinks. 

The couple was inspired by the lack of genuine healthy options and created their very own juice bar, Nékter. Nékter's menu consists of many different cleanses, smoothies and acai bowls.

"I really like making my own smoothies and healthy stuff at home, but it's super inconvenient to make in the morning when I need to drive to work," local Kathy Morris said. "A place like this would be great because I could get to work on time without sacrificing my healthy diet."

With five different kinds of acai bowls, eight different smoothies and six different juices, it is unlikely anyone would get bored with the menu. Different juices help the body in different ways. "The Buzz" is designed to give you instant and lasting energy consisting of carrot, orange, lemon and ginger. 

Another appealing aspect of Nékter is the cleanse option. Depending on how long you would like to go on a cleanse, specific options are offered for purchase on the website.

"A couple of years ago there was a smoothie place in that development but it didn't last long," local Pat Richards said. "I'm excited for Nékter to open soon because it will be a great healthier and convenient option for that area. I think they will do great in Carlsbad."
