Bank of America Website Slow Tuesday Amid Threats of Terrorist Cyber Attack

Customers had the most trouble getting on the online banking website Tuesday from mid-morning to mid-afternoon.

According to Reuters, "the online banking site suffered intermittent problems Tuesday amid threats on the Internet that a group was planning to launch cyber attacks on the bank and other U.S. targets to protest a film that stirred unrest in the Middle East."

CNNMoney reported, "On blogs and Twitter, some hacker groups were claiming responsibility for the outage. But there was no evidence to support those claims, and several recent ones turned out to be hoaxes."

CNN said Bank of America—which has several locations in Carlsbad—did not provide a reason behind the outage by the end of workday Tuesday and would not confirm if it was a victim of a cyber attack or if the outages were due to errors on the bank's end.
