Carlsbad Restaurant Ignite Serves Tasty Food in a Bold Atmosphere

La Costa's newest restaurant, Ignite, located at 6996 El Camino Real, has sparked quite a on Carlsbad Patch.

Some of those making comments were convinced that since it was in the same location as La Costa Grill, it would be run by the same owners—and that those owners were allegedly not the most honest people around.

The truth is according to co-owner Kevin Brown, the owners of Ignite have nothing to do with the restaurant that was there before they took over. Ignite co-owner Kevin Brown said, "We've been looking to open Ignite for three years." La Costa Grill's location was just what they were looking for, so they took advantage of the "great opportunity," said Brown. 

Brown adds that they "gutted the place and spent a fair amount of money doing an expansive renovation. We wanted a more energetic feel." 

Inside, the decor is filled with bold colors and modern touches. There's outdoor seating and a bar area separate from the main dining room. Ignite makes many of the ingredients used in the kitchen, including all the mozzarella cheese that goes on the wood-fired pizzas. 

Ignite has a happy hour and a brunch starting on Aug. 13. After sampling several menu items, we found the portion sizes to be good, presentation to be great and everything was up to our tasting standards. 

Brown said a second Ignite will open in November in Denver not far his Colorado home.
