Good to the Last Drop: Carlsbad's Witch Creek Winery

The award-winning winery pours tastings at a UCSD Moores Cancer Center gala.

donated hundreds of glasses of wine to help support cancer research at the 30th Annual Celebrity Chefs Cook Gala April 16 at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina in San Diego.

Witch Creek Winery's wine maker, Ryan Baker, was on hand to pour the wine and introduce people to the Carlsbad-based company. "We're a small operation with about 10 employees; we're happy when people know who we are," Baker says. Witch Creek Winery has a tasting room in Carlsbad and one in Julian.

There are 28 different wines available at Witch Creek. Grapes are brought in from all over. People can watch Baker make the wine between August and November in Carlsbad. "And, no, male feet do not stomp the grapes," jokes Baker.
