Talk about a fun work environment. From ping-pong tournaments to games of mini hoops, Carlsbad-based sporting goods company SKLZ gets a high five from Carlsbad Patch for making work feel like, well, anything but work.
Founder and CEO John Sarkisian says it’s all about balancing work and play, “from company-wide ping-pong tournaments to watching World Cup matches together at lunch…we believe that high team morale will translate to success as a business. Also, sports are by nature fun, and we all feel quite fortunate to work in an industry where fun principles such as competitiveness, camaraderie and teamwork are the norm.”
SKLZ, located at 5823 Newton Dr. in Carlsbad, develops and manufactures athletic-performance and skill-development training products for baseball, fastpitch, golf, football, soccer and more. Many of their products are sold at retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Academy, Sports Chalet, and Walmart. The company also provides training content to help athletes of all ages improve their games, primarily in the form of instructional videos online.
