Restaurant Review: The New TWENTY/20

Almost a million dollars was spent on the restaurant's renovation.

TWENTY/20 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa dropped the "Grill and Wine Bar" from it's name, and added new menu items influenced by the tastes and sights of Northern Spain's San Sebastian.

I highly recommend going for happy hour to catch the sunset over the Carlsbad coastline on the restaurant's new veranda. The new patio space is 1,700 square feet with both tables and communal eating areas as well as a fireplace. There are plenty of heat lamps on the veranda as well.

Definitely try the Sangria. The house specialty comes in three varieties red, white and rose. Each one is very good. The red features a blend of Garnacha (Spanish red wine), Torres Brandy, cranberry juice and fruit such as blackberries and red grapes. The white mixes up Verdejo (Spanish white wine), Torres Brandy, Torres Orange Liqueur, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur and seasonal fruits like peaches and green apples. The rose contains Rose Garnacha (Spanish rose wine), a variety of fruits and Strawberry Simple Syrup, Torres Brandy and Torres Orange.

I also suggest the Flash Fried Pardon Peppers and calamari for starters. As far as entrées go, can't go wrong with the Filet Mignon, but you will need to fork over $40 for that meal. 

Last but not least, consider splitting the dessert tower with your table. The tower included five different desserts including a decadent creme brulee, and chocolate and strawberry mousses.

TWENTY/20 is open weekdays 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

1st Wednesday of every month, beginning February 1st through the month of May.

A casual event where guests are free to roam the veranda and sample various small plates. TWENTY/20’s house-made sangria and other cocktails will be available for an additional cost. Food will vary each Street Fare—from Asian to Midwestern, come satisfy the foodie in you.
