Store of Locally Printed Trendy Clothing, Pillows and Decor Opening in Carlsbad

The Printed Palette uses environmentally friendly water-based ink. After getting popular online the business is now opening a storefront near the Poinsettia Coaster station.

Carlsbad residents Alissa Samperio and Kurt Hummel are boyfriend and girlfriend and have been business partners for eight years. In March of 2012 they started an online store on Etsy selling men's, women's and children's clothing as well as home decor and wall prints.

After becoming popular online, the duo decided to take theprintedpalette.com to the next level and open their first retail shop in Carlsbad.

"We print everything ourselves. It's modern, whimsical and totally different than anything else out there," said Samperio who added that she gets her inspiration from everyday life.

Everything is printed with high quality water based ink that is environmentally friendly. The designs are created on photoshop and feature simple shapes that are blended with vintage twists and thought-provoking words.

Samperio, 27, said her work is often imitated, but she finds new ways to keep her designs fresh. Among some of her designs are shirts, hats and prints with anchors, a fox, and a teepee. "I want to do more animals," said Samperio.
