Video: Britta Wilson Animal Trainer Extraordinaire

Britta Wilson, a former San Diego Zoo animal trainer, started a pet care and training business.

Encinitas resident Britta Wilson has worked in the animal field for more than 19 years including training exotic zoo animals for eight years. Wilson has lived in North County her entire life and is an eighth generation San Diegan.

She now offers private pet care and training, using clicker training. The focus is on positive reinforcement. Wilson will travel to Orange County and San Diego and can work with all species of animals, both domestic and exotic.

Clicker training was developed from the lab studies of B. F. Skinner in the 1930s and was used with Navy dolphin trainers in the early 1970s. In the early 1990s, clicker training became popular in the zoos and aquatic parks, as well as within the dog training community as trainers sought force-free training methods.
