In this post I'll talk about the virtues or of having your upholstery professionally cleaned. Many, don't think of it, perhaps don't know it can be done and certainly don't know why their furniture should be cleaned.
Basically many if not most upholstery fabrics are synthetic, making them similar in nature to carpet. All the reasons for cleaning your carpet apply to cleaning upholstery.
Most sofas and chairs will ugly out long before they wear out or completely break down. This means that you have to spend money before you need to simply because you don't like the look of that piece of furniture. Much of that premature replacement could be avoided by simple care and maintenance, including professional cleaning.
So what happens to your furniture that makes it "ugly" and in need of replacement prematurely? First of all we eat and drink on it and you know what happens. We spill and drop. Some of the things we spill don't clean well if at all and we're left with stains.
Many have pets and allow them to sit and roam around the furniture. When a dog or a cat goes outside they pick up dirt or soil on their oily paws. Now guess what? They don't wipe their feet very well upon entering, then they jump on your upholstery leaving dirt, soil and whatever else lurks on their oily paws. This is a recipe for disaster for your upholstery.
Besides the deposited soil being there making it look bad we sit on that dirt and soil. Over time our weight on that dirt grinds it into the fabric, grinding away at the color making it permanently dull & lifeless looking. Nothing can be done about that.
For that reason vacuuming your upholstery often is the single most important thing you can do to make it last and keep it looking good. I would ask you to keep the pets off but I doubt that's possible, so vacuum often and have a professional Truck Mounted Carpet Cleaner clean it to remove the soils your vacuum can't get and clean the spot and stains.
