The Carlsbad Senior Center welcomes David Harrison, City of Carlsbad emergency manager, to discuss disaster preparedness issues and tips from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on March 28. From wildfires to earthquakes, power outage to terrorist attacks, disasters can seem overwhelming, but their impact need not be crippling. Emergency management consists of preparing for, responding to and recovering from large-scale disasters.  The City of Carlsbad is part of a regional public safety network that prepares for these and other disasters. In extreme circumstances, snap decisions may have to be made in order to survive a disaster. In this session, you will learn how to:

  •  Build a preparedness kit
  • Develop an emergency plan
  • Stay informed during emergencies
  • Evacuate and find shelter in emergencies
  • Connect with recovery resources
  • Reconnect with individuals and families during disasters
