Community Play Date gives residents a preview of city classes, activities

The City of Carlsbad's Community Play Date on Sept. 8 offers residents a preview of the many classes and activities being offered at their neighborhood community centers.

The City of Carlsbad's Community Play Date on Sept. 8 will give residents a preview of the many classes and activities being offered at their neighborhood community centers.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Calavera Hills Community Center, 2997 Glasgow Drive.

Attendees will have the opportunity to groove with Zumba for kids and adults; master the martial arts of Kendo, Tai Chi and Soo Bahk Do; and express themselves through watercolor painting and art for all ages through demonstrations of these class offerings.

Lori Swenck, recreation area manager for the City of Carlsbad, said the goal of the Community Play Date is to introduce residents to the wide array of activities the city offers.

"We want the community to come out and test the classes," she said, adding that the chance to meet the instructors will also "put a face with a name" before classes begin.

Other classes and programs residents can try out include preschool, Fliptime Gymnastics and tennis.

Swenck said the Community Play Date is an event to inform residents and unite neighbors.

"It gives the community the opportunity to come together and play together," she said.

Aristotle felt that by becoming licensed professionals in the U.S. shortly after their arrival to the shores of the U.S., they would have a greater opportunity to receive better clinical positions when they applied for the work-study internships that they were eligible to participate in....' the school told students that were enrolled in masters' degrees that certification as a cna was part of the road to obtaining a masters degree ?? stop right there... masters in public health is an administrative position that has nothing to do with being a cna....and i'm sure people didn't travel thousands of miles to do the grunt work in a hospital.... yea, getting a cna license is a great suggestion for an 18 year old that's going into the nursing field....but not for someone in the masters' program.... and fyi phony college.....in this country a person has to have a 4 year degree before they can apply for the masters' program....
