Free Skate Art Event Geared Just for Teens Saturday Oct. 20

Join in a teen-docent led tour of the new skate art exhibit at the City of Carlsbad's William D. Cannon Art Gallery, followed by a hands-on art making project with special guest artist, Moüse.

Ready to get “sick” [(Sik) Adj. Meaning awesome, skillful, or sweet] with the locals!  Join in a teen-docent led tour of the new skate art exhibit at the City of Carlsbad’s William D. Cannon Art Gallery, followed by a hands-on art making project featuring special guest artist, Moüse, who will demonstrate the prolific artistry of grip tape, at Teen Open Studios!

Teens can also jump on a virtual skateboard in the awesome Games-in-Gear game truck, get a snack from Daphne's California Greek, enjoy music by Caliber Entertainment and local teen bands, and watch an amazing professional skate demonstration managed by Bones Wheels.

The City of Carlsbad will provide all the materials and the workspace for this free event, teens provide the creativity. No reservations required and you can stay as long as you like.

The teen event coincides with the exhibit, “Full Deck: A Short History of Skate Art,” which runs Oct. 7 to Dec. 30 at the city’s William D. Cannon Art Gallery.  The exhibit celebrates the art and culture of skateboarding with more than 275 skateboards and skate decks, plus dozens of photographs and original artwork from the 1960s to the present.
