Dining Events at Carlsbad's West Steak and Seafood

Reservations are now being taken for a six course prix-fixe wine pairing dinner Sept. 24 and tickets are on sale 4th Annual OktoberWest celebration on October 12, 2013.

CARLSBAD’S WEST STEAK AND SEAFOOD TO HOST SIX COURSE WINE PAIRING DINNER IN SEPTEMBER

West Steak and Seafood, will host a six course prix-fixe wine pairing dinner on September 24, 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cakebread Cellars. 

West Steak and Seafood’s executive chef, Eugenio Martignago, begins the evening’s culinary experience by pairing a crisp and fruitful 2012 Sauvignon Blanc with an aperitif of heirloom tomatoes, burrata, fresh mission figs and bacon steak cured figs. This appetizing plate is soon followed by a delicious puff pastry filled with sea scallops and mushroom duxelles, paired with a rich 2011 Chardonnay that has aged for eight months in a French oak barrel to enhance its flavors and texture. The third course, comprised of a fresh porcini mushroom soufflé and Maine lobster, is complemented by an earthy 2012 Pinot Noir. The fourth dish, a lamb osso bucco Milanese and orange cauliflower purée, artfully brings out the generous aromas of its accompanying 2012 Zinfandel. Next served is a fragrant 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, paired with a delicious wagyu hanger steak, haricot verts, ratatouille and goat cheese timballo. The menu is completed with an assortment of artisan cheeses and a satisfying 2010 Dancing Bear Cabernet Sauvignon, offering rich notes of dark cherry, boysenberry, blackberry and plum fruits. 

The Cakebread Wine Dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m. on September 24, 2013 in the private West Room located at Bistro West. Cost is $150 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For more information, visit www.weststeakandseafood.com/events or call (760) 930-9100. 

Rounding out the special event West Culinary Series for 2013 will be the 4th Annual OktoberWest celebration on October 12, 2013. This lively outdoor festival includes music, beer, wine and festive culinary creations by Chef Eugenio Martignago. Menu highlights include house made weisswurst and bratwurst sausages, wiener schnitzel and other authentic German fare. Tents open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m and guests must be 21 years or older to enter. Cost is $35 per person in advance and $40 per person day of event. The West Inn & Suites Hotel will offer a special package rate for OktoberWest attendees, starting at $219 per room, plus tax. The package includes choice of accommodations on October 12 or 13, two tickets to OktoberWest on October 12, beer upon arrival, a hot breakfast buffet and complimentary shuttle service anywhere in Carlsbad.
