85-Year-Old Veteran Decorates Carlsbad Home for Memorial Day

Carlsbad Patch visited the home of an 85-year-old Korea war veteran, who was injured in the war and asked not to be identified, to snap photos of his patriotic decorations.

He spent almost nine hours putting up flags and displays outside his home on Harding Street. He also put up the display of flags seen outside of Tip Top Meats on Paseo Del Norte.

When asked why he puts up the flags and photos twice a year for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, he teared up and said, "it's in honor of all the veterans and especially those who never made it home."

The homeowner was in the Marine Corps. In addition to flags he also has photo frames about other veterans who were war heros. His own photo is not on display.
