Carlsbad Music Festival Invites You to the June 21st Village Walk

In celebration of its 10th Anniversary season, the Carlsbad Music Festival is presenting the Village Walk on the evening of Friday, June 21st, 2013. This event will feature 44 performances by 30 acts between 5-10 pm and embodies the Carlsbad Music Festival’s spirit of “adventurous music by the beach” while creating a community event for both audience members and musicians. The Village Walk is a fun, free community celebration of music.

The event kicks off with Giri Nata Children’s Balinese Gamelan from the Center for World Music at Magee Park, and ends with surf rock meets jazz duo, the Mattson2, at Boxd. Other highlights include performances by:

Jory Herman, a San Diego Symphony bassist playing works from his new album of solo Bach.

The Village Walk is a regular and popular feature of the September Carlsbad Music Festival, and this year we are additionally presenting it as a standalone event in June. Venues range from New Village Arts Theatre to Spin Records to Magee Park to the old train station, and all are within a short walk of one another. With over 44 performances to choose from over the evening, a Music Walk attendee can choose their own pathway through the music and the Village. There will be an after party at New Village Arts with DJ Lexicon Devil.

With its Village Walk, the Carlsbad Music Festival will join in the world wide celebration of music that takes place each year on the Summer Solstice, known in the US as the National Day of Music.
