ENCINITAS ELKS LODGE ANNUAL CHARITY BBQ

  • What's Up: The annual charity will feature country music, western dancing, carnival games and more. 
  • When: 4 p.m. on Friday, July 12 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. 
  • Where: Encinitas Elks Lodge #2243, 1393 Windsor Rd., Cardiff.
  • Price: Free. Additional cost for food and raffles.
INSECT FESTIVAL
  • What's Up: The festival will host thousands of insects including lizards, snakes and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. The two day event will feature vendors, tastings and more. 
  • When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. 
  • Where: San Diego Botanic Garden, 230 Quail Gardens Dr., Encinitas. 
  • Price: $8-$14. 
CARLSBAD HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO
  • What's Up: The healthy living and fitness expo will host agility tests, demonstrations, live entertainment and more. 
  • When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. 
  • Where: Westfield Plaza Camino Real, 2525 El Camino Real, Carlsbad.
  • Price: Free. 
DINOSAUR DIGS STORYTIME
  • What's Up: What was earth like when dinosaurs ruled the earth? Come find out at the library. Dinosaur Digs Storytime will include storytime, dinosaur and fossil crafts. 
  • When: 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. 
  • Where: Civic Center Library, 330 North Coast Hwy., Oceanside
  • Price: Free. 
CARLSBAD TRIATHLON
  • What's Up: Watch triathletes swim, run and bike to the end of the finish line. The 32nd Annual Carlsbad Triathlon will race along Carlsbad's scenic beaches and lagoons.
  • When: 8 a.m. to Noon on Sunday, July 14. 
  • Where: Tamarack State Beach, 3879 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad.
