Hello Fall: Day Trip Over to Bates Nut Farm for Giant Pumpkins [Photo Gallery]

The Bates Nut Farm pumpkin patch opened Sept. 27 but if you want a giant pumpkin (or a picture by one) this is the weekend to go.

Pumpkin patches, a corn maze, hay rides, a general store, and petting zoo await you this time of year at Bates Nut Farm located at 15954 Woods Valley Road in Valley Center.

You'll find some of the biggest pumpkins in all of San Diego county. If you want to take home a giant pumpkin, come before Sunday Sept. 29. "The big pumpkins go fast," an employee told Carlsbad Patch.

They also make great photo-ops. Some of these pumpkins are bigger than your little pumpkins at home.

Bates Nut Farm is dog-friendly and open 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays through Halloween, and 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends through Oct. 31.

California seriously needs Republicans to return and reclaim the 55 Electoral votes this stateRead More represents to the presidential elections. Three Democratic cities are bankrupt and more are threatened.

I'd say the recent events against which they were protesting are far more consequential than aRead More freeway traffic back-up. Just a guess.

How did they cause a backup, exactly? I'm asking because I saw them, and am wondering how theyRead More backed it up. If it's because people were slowing to read the signs, you can't really get mad at them for that.

I stopped using Internet Explorer years ago. Firefox is safer and the possibility of getting aRead More virus is much less. I have no issues with Firefox.

And if you use an IPAD early in the day as I do, the problem is that there is so much on each pageRead More that it is hard to scroll with your finger(s) because there is just so much clutter that you keep losing your story to an annoying ad.
