Looking for the Next Dog Star

Carlsbad Community Theatre is looking for Toto for the upcoming production of The Wiz.

Do you have a small dog under 15-pounds that does not bite, likes to be held, and will come on command?

If so, you might have a star on your hands. Carlsbad Community Theatre is auditioning dogs for the role of Toto for the upcoming show The Wiz.

Your dog could debut on stage at the Cultural Arts Center in Carlsbad in front of 400 patrons a night.

No previous dog-acting experience is necessary. 

Auditions are Wednesday July 20 at 5pm at the Women’ Center in Carlsbad located at 3320 Monroe Street.

You must arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. to be considered for the role.

Bring your dog, current vaccine records (including rabies certificate), and your calendar.

You must be available for at least two runs of the show the week of July 25 (to be scheduled with our Director), be available for dress rehearsal the evenings of August 3 and 4, and available for show dates August 5-7. More details will be at the audition.

There is no pay associated with the production, however – 4 tickets to any of Carlsbad Community Theatres The Wiz production will be awarded to the lucky dog’s owner.
