Updated Thurs. at 7:45 a.m.

More than 9,000 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the Oceanside-Carlsbad area lost power in two separate outages early today. The first outage occurred around 4:30 a.m. and affected more than 8,000 customers, according to the utility, which had restored electricity to several hundred addresses within an hour. The second outage occurred around 5:30 a.m. and affected just over 2,000 customers, the utility reported. SDG&E had both outages fully resolved before 7 a.m. The loss of power affected the parking lot lights and lights on the Coaster platform at the Oceanside Transit Center, according to the North County Transit District, which cautioned riders to be extra cautious when arriving at the center this morning. The cause was under investigation.
