Sewage Spill in San Marcos Flows Toward Batiquitos Lagoon

The early morning spill Sunday flowed for a little over an hour.

Issued by The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health on Sunday:

An estimated 3,000 gallons of sewage spilled from a force break in a six-inch line located at 2310 S. Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos. The spill ran into the San Marcos Creek, which flows to the Batiquitos Lagoon.

The spill was discovered at 3:13 a.m. on Sunday and ran for approximately 75 minutes. Crews are working to recover some of the release at this time.

As a result, signs warning of contamination are being posted at access points, including La Costa Golf Resort.
